Description
Brookhouse Farmhouse is a late 17th-century farmhouse with an 18th-century addition on the right. It is constructed from white-washed coursed squared buff sandstone rubble and features a Kerridge stone-slate roof, stone ridge, and three stone chimneys. The building has an L-shaped plan and is two stories high with a four-bay front. The left three bays are part of the original house and include a mix of two and three-light chamfered stone mullions, along with a projecting rubble band at the first floor. The right end bay has 20th-century casements set under rough stone lintels. At the rear, there is a wing that features chamfered stone mullions and a chamfered doorcase leading to a lean-to porch with a heavy flagged roof. The interior likely had a gable entry originally and includes a deeply chamfered beam with a bead stop in the kitchen. Little else has been reported about the interior. There are 20th-century extensions to the left side and rear that are not included in the listing.
