Description

Mere Court Hotel, formerly known as Meadowlands, is a former house that was in use as a training college at the time of listing. It was built in 1903, as indicated on the rainwater head, and designed by Frank Dunkerley. The building features red brick and rendered brick with a tile roof and consists of two storeys.

The entrance front has brickwork on the ground floor with rendering above. It includes a range with a projecting wing to the right, featuring a bay staircase window at the angle. To the left, there is a door set in a recessed porch, alongside two 3-light casement windows. The first floor has three canted bay windows that project into the eaves of the gables above. There is coving above the windows that connects to the projecting upper gables, which are partially tile hung.

To the right of the projecting wing, there is a 3-light ground floor window, and a bow window at the gable end, with an overhanging first floor window above that is partially within the eaves. This also has coving above, linking to the tile-hung upper gable. A later addition to the left is a 3-storey wing that features an 8-light casement on the ground floor, a canted bay on the first floor with single casements on either side, and a similar arrangement on the second floor without the single casements. The gable of this wing is also partially tile-hung.
