Description
Banstead Place is a house that now serves as a training school. It was built in the early 18th century, with additions from the 19th and 20th centuries on either side. The building is constructed of red brick with stone dressings and features a double range slate mansard roof, with two stacks on the right side. It has two storeys and an attic, which is illuminated by flat head dormers.
The facade is symmetrical with five bays, highlighted by a projecting pedimented central bay. Above this, there is a stone cornice and a parapet. The windows are sash style, with plate glass on the ground floor and glazing bars on the first floor, all set beneath gauged heads. A central brick porch features four banded piers and a stone pediment above the doorcase, which has egg and dart moulding. The porch cornice continues as a plain stone band on the main building. To the right, there is a 19th-century single bay with a door, and at the end, there is a further projection from the 20th century.
