Description

The Banstead War Memorial is a First World War memorial that was unveiled on 5 June 1921, and it is likely designed by George Jack, with later additions made for the Second World War.

It is made of Portland stone and features a tapering octagonal shaft topped with a cusped and facetted cross. This shaft is mounted on a tall, stepped octagonal base, which has a slightly battered lower section. The base stands on an octagonal plinth and is inscribed with the words "THESE MEN/ OF/ BANSTEAD/ FELL IN THE WAR/ 1914 - 1918/ 1939 - 1945" followed by the names of those commemorated.
