Description
The icehouse located outside the west wall of the garden at Alderley Park dates from the early to mid-19th century and was built for Sir J T Stanley, with some repairs made in the 20th century. It is constructed of brick in an English garden wall bond. The entrance features a semi-circular head with a stone coping above and curved ramps leading into a long brick barrel-vaulted passage. This passage opens into a deeper circular chamber that has a brick domed roof.
