Description

Bate Mill Cottage is a house that dates from the late 17th century, with additions and alterations made in the 19th century. It features a timber frame with brick infill and a corrugated asbestos roof. Originally consisting of three cells, the building was raised from one storey to two storeys during the 19th century.

The entrance front has a rendered plinth and displays 12 by 3 cells of small framing, with angle struts at the corners and at the sixth and tenth posts. To the left, there is a two-light casement window, a 20th-century oriel bow window in the centre, and another two-light casement window to the right. The first floor is constructed of red stretcher bond brick and has three three-light casement windows.

On the left-hand gable end, there are 2 by 3 cells of small framing with arched braces at the corners, along with a modern doorway. The first floor features brick walling to the left and a three-light casement window.
