Description
The Canal House at Barbridge Junction, built in the early 19th century and later modified in the 20th century, is a canal house that has been divided into two dwellings. The building is two storeys high at the front and three storeys at the rear. It features chequered brickwork and an overhanging pyramidal slate roof with a central chimney stack. The west front has two storeys and consists of two bays, including a canted bay window and a single flat arched window to the right, which has a 12-light hopper type frame. Above these, there are two blind windows. To the left, there is a lean-to lobby extension with a wooden porch over a wooden doorway, which has a 20th-century door. To the right, there is another lean-to porch over a doorway, also with a 20th-century door. At the rear, there is a low, single storey range made of brick, with a slate roof and two corner stacks.
