Description
Bridge House, also known as "Durleston," is possibly a lock keeper's house connected with the Canal. It is a square building dating from around 1840, featuring two storeys and constructed of ashlar stone. The roof is low-pitched and hipped, covered with slate and has projecting boxed eaves. There is a central ridge stack that includes a moulded string and cornice.
On the south front, there are two reused sash windows with glazing bars and block sills. The entrance front to the east has two first-floor windows, one of which is blind and similar to those on the south front but somewhat narrower. To the left of the entrance, there is a recessed door with four panels, two of which are glazed, and it has a stone lintel. A later extension to the west features superimposed bays with four lights and a slate apron.
