Description

Dunkirk House is an 18th-century building of two storeys and an attic. It is constructed of red brick on a stone plinth, with a fluted stone frieze and moulded stone cornice, all painted. The building has a brick parapet with stone coping and a slate mansard roof with three dormers featuring segmental heads.

The first floor has three windows: a central single sash window and two tripartite windows, recessed, with no glazing bars and block sills. The ground floor features two 19th-century canted stone bay windows with three lights each, sash windows, no glazing bars, a frieze, cornice, and a panelled parapet. A central door consists of six panels, two of which are glazed, set within a plain stone surround. The doorcase is characterised by engaged Doric columns, a fluted frieze, a dentil cornice, and a pediment. A tiled roof is located at the rear of the house. An ornate Victorian conservatory adjoins the house to the north.

Dunkirk House, together with Hillside and their garden walls, form a group.
