Description
Shane's Castle is a small stone building dating from around 1840 to 1850. It is two stories high and features an octagonal section connected to a rectangular section of the same width, with splayed angles on the plan. A small square porch, which is one story tall, is located opposite the center of the east end and is linked to the octagon by a narrower passage. The two-story block has a battlement cresting with moulded coping on a moulded string.
On the north side, where the octagon and rectangle meet, there is an angular bay stair turret with slit lights. The south front includes four-light casements and a ledged door set within a three-centred pointed and splayed arched surround, along with additional small casements on the splays of the octagon. The north side features two four-light casements, the stair turret, and similar windows on the splays of the octagon, as well as a secondary door leading to the porch. The porch has a blocked arched opening facing east. All windows are fitted with drip moulds, and the building is well constructed.
