Description

This is a late 18th-century dovecote situated at Stoke Hall. The dovecote is constructed of red brick in a Flemish bond pattern and has a hipped slate roof. It is a square, two-story building with a two-course-deep band at first-floor level and a brick dentil course at the eaves. A ledged and battened door is set within a segmental arched opening. There is a single window featuring glazing bars, with a fixed lower section and a hopper window above. A loft door is located at first-floor level. Vertical, elliptical openings are visible in rectangular stone inserts high on two of the walls. The remains of a four-post wooden bell turret, with a scotia shaped lead roof and a wooden finial, is secured to the highest point of the slate hipped roof.
