Gate Lodge. Dated 1876 on bressumer to first floor. Probably by Lockwood. Red random bond brick painted in simulation of timber framing, red sandstone ashlar and timber framed with a hipped roof of alternating bands of plain and fishscale tiles. Two storeys. The drive front has a centre a canted ashlar bay window, the ground floor of which has a central doorway with C20 timber porch before. To the angles are cross-windows with ovolo moulded surrounds. To either side are slightly recessed single storey wings which have two slit lights with a common ashlar sill. Toothed band to the eaves. At first floor level is a central jettied bay supported on timber brackets and with a decoratively chamfered bressumer to the centre of which is the date. Central 4-light casement window with ovolo-moulded wooden surround. Decorative timber framing to the walling with arched and cusped heads to the panels and ogee-struts to the gable. Similar decorative framing to the sides at first floor level. The right hand single storey wing has a ½-hipped roof with a triple-lancet and cusped heads to the lancets in the gablet. The left hand wing has a gablet into which projects a 2-light window with cinquefoil heads to the lights. Chimney stack of 4 flues to the ridge.
