Description

This distance stone, dating from around 1830, is located on the towpath 20 meters north of the canal aqueduct in Bollington. It is made of ashlar sandstone and features a rectangular slab with a shaped top. The south face of the stone has the inscription "1/2," while the north face may have "1/4." This stone is a rare example of a distance marker on this canal and is listed for its group value context.
