Description

A terrace of five houses with weavers' garrets, built around 1830 in Macclesfield. The houses are constructed of brick with a Welsh slate roof. They are three storeys high, each representing a single unit with a double-pile plan. Each house has a round-arched doorway and four-pane sash windows with flat-arched heads. Long workshop lights with small panes, some of which have been replaced, are visible in the attic storey at the front and rear. Number 42 is a somewhat later addition, featuring a doorway across the corner and four-pane sash windows on each floor, and lacking the attic workshop. Originally, the houses were built as back-to-backs, a relatively uncommon development type in Macclesfield.
