Description

Brunswick Court is a former Sunday school, now converted into flats, dating from around 1823, with 20th-century elevations. The building is constructed of brick and topped with a slate roof. It stands two storeys high, with the entrance block facing Chapel Street featuring a three-window range and stone moulding beneath a pediment over the central bay. The corners are marked by plain pilasters and stone cornice bands. The central entrance has paired doors set within an architrave that includes a triglyph frieze. The lower windows have been renewed but remain in their original openings, featuring flat-arched gauged brick heads. Above, there are three round-arched upper windows with radial glazing.

On the St George's Street elevation, there is a single window return with similar fenestration. Adjacent to this is a lower wing with a five-window range, arcaded, where the windows are recessed in round-arched panels between pilasters. The lower openings have been renewed, while the round-arched upper windows also feature radial glazing and a continuous hoodmould. The wing is capped with a heavy stone cornice and blocking course. This section ends to the north with a higher two-storeyed block that has a three-window range, with flat-arched gauged brick heads for the lower windows and round-arched windows above, all set in full height panels and adorned with a dentilled cornice. The end wall has stacks, and the northern return matches this style, connecting to the adjoining chapel (Brunswick House) via a two-storeyed porch block that has an entrance framed by a stepped round-arched architrave, with a round-arched window above.
