Description

The cottage located approximately 5 yards east of Ramsdell Hall is a house dating from the 16th century, with additions and alterations made in the 17th, 18th, and 20th centuries. It features timber framing with wattle-and-daub and brick infill, as well as Flemish bond brick and coursed rubble. The roof is covered with 20th-century cement tiles and the building stands two storeys tall.

On the stable yard front, to the right, there is a lean-to outshut with a catslide roof. This section includes a 19th-century window with three panes by three panes, adjacent to a piece of 18th or early 19th-century walling in Flemish bond with black headers. To the left of this is another lean-to that has a wall-plate at the top, possibly from another structure, and a central doorway with a cambered arch. Flanking the doorway are windows with two panes by two panes. Above this lean-to, there is a portion of walling on the first floor that features a casement window with five lights.

The left gable end of the cottage displays coursed rubble walling with ashlar quoins at the corners. It has ground and first-floor windows with four lights and chamfered mullions. Inside, there are a pair of cruck beams on the ground floor and chamfered ceiling beams.
