Description

Rectory Lane Cottage is a cottage dating back to the 16th century, which was remodelled and extended in the 18th century. It is timber-framed with brick infill, and has a replacement roof covered with old plain tiles. The cottage is one-and-a-half and two storeys high, originally with two bays, to which an additional bay was added to the left in the 18th century, along with a lean-to on the right. A 20th-century stable door is located to the right of the centre bay, sheltered by a small gabled hood on timber posts. There are 20th-century 2-light steel windows on each side. The left bay features a 2-light window in a segmental opening, and another window above it. The right bay and the lean-to have a 3-light casement window. Above the right two bays is an early 18th-century 2-light wrought-iron casement window set within a gabled dormer. A stack is situated between the two 16th-century bays and at the left end of the building. The roof is half-hipped to the right.
