Description

The ice house, located approximately 100 metres west of White House Pond in Old Woodfold Wood, dates from around 1800. It is constructed of brick with sandstone rubble walls and is covered with earth. The structure features an egg-shaped, brick-lined vessel that is mostly below ground, with the upper portion surrounded by square walls made of sandstone rubble. The ice house is currently damaged, and the entrance on the north side likely had a square porch, of which only the foundations remain.
