Description

Mellor Lodge, along with its gates and railings, is a pair of lodges built in the 1790s, likely designed by James Wyatt as part of the Woodfold Hall estate. The lodges are constructed of sandstone ashlar with slate roofs. They are single-story buildings of square plan, connected by iron railings and gates. Each lodge has a cornice with a blocking course, and each facade is of one bay, with the central part projecting slightly forward. The northeast and southwest sides have sash windows with glazing bars, set within architraves topped with triangular pediments. Facing the drive, each lodge features a door framed by an architrave and pediment.
