Description
Lower Reaps Farmhouse is a house, probably dating from around 1600, that has been altered over time. It is constructed of slobbered rubble, with the eaves height raised in brick and the roof replaced by asbestos sheets in the mid-20th century. The main part of the facade features a 6-pane sash window with plain reveals on the ground floor, accompanied by a lean-to porch to its right that covers a blocked mullioned window. On the first floor, there is a modern window with plain reveals. To the left, beyond a straight joint, is an addition that includes two sash windows with plain reveals on the ground floor and a modern window with plain reveals above. To the right of the facade is a one-bay cross-wing that has mullioned windows with hollow chamfer, outer chamfer, and hoods; the ground-floor window has four lights, while the first-floor window has three lights. A chimney is aligned with the straight joint, but the chimney cap has been removed from the cross-wing. Inside, the room to the left of the door features one exposed original chamfered beam.
