Description
Newburn House is a house, now serving as both a residence and a surgery, dating from the mid to late 18th century. It is constructed of sandstone rubble with quoins, and the rear facing the street features incised render. The roof is made of Welsh slate and has flat stone gable copings. The building is designed in an L-plan and consists of two storeys with three irregular bays and lower one-bay wings, with the left wing projecting forward.
On the left side of the main house, there is a pedimented Tuscan porch that features a panelled, half-glazed door and sidelights. To the right, there is a French window beneath a flat stone lintel. Above, there are three windows with similar flat stone lintels and projecting stone sills, one on each floor in the gabled left wing and one in the right wing. The roof has curved kneelers on the main section, and there are ashlar-corniced end brick chimneys on both the main section and the wings, along with a side chimney on the projecting wing.
