Description
This Wesleyan Methodist chapel dates to 1837, as indicated by the inscription on the porch gable. It is located off Walbottle Road, in Newburn, Walbottle. The chapel is constructed of hammer-dressed coursed squared sandstone with ashlar quoins and dressings, and has a Welsh slate roof with stone gable coping. The building follows a T-plan layout, with a main block of one storey and three bays by three bays, and a projecting gabled porch on the left. The porch has a renewed double door beneath an elliptical fanlight, and a pointed-arched window with intersecting glazing bars. Roundheaded windows with renewed glazing are set within keyed surrounds, featuring impost blocks and projecting stone sills, and are located on both the front and rear elevations. The roof is hipped.
