Description
The former library, now a university club, was built in 1926 by A. Dunbar Smith. It is constructed of English bond brick with decorative diaper work and features ashlar dressings, topped with a roof of plain tiles. The building has a basement and one high storey, with three bays; the outer bays project while the entrance bay is set back to the right. It includes a square-headed double door framed by an architrave and 7-light stone mullioned-and-transomed canted bay windows in wide bays. There are floor and eaves strings, and the parapet has moulded coping. The hipped roof is adorned with a central ventilator featuring an ogee octagonal dome and a ball finial.
