Description
This is a terrace of houses located on Leazes Park Road in Newcastle upon Tyne. Dating to the late 18th or early 19th century, the terrace comprises numbers 32 to 52. The buildings are constructed of brick, with the exception of number 34, which is stuccoed. They are topped with Welsh slate roofs, although numbers 46 and 50 have felt coverings. Brick chimneys are present on all properties.
Each house is three storeys high and has two bays. The doorways vary, with some panelled, some flushed, and some 20th-century replacements, generally set within pilaster-and-entablature doorcases that are paired at the party walls. The windows are sash windows, some with glazing bars or margin lights. Some windows retain wedge stone lintels and stone sills. Numbers 36 and 50 have 20th-century glazing, and several top windows have been altered. Number 52 features a Venetian window on the ground floor and an open-segmental-pedimented doorcase. A small shop front has been inserted into number 36. Dormer windows with flat heads have been added to numbers 32, 44 and 46. Numbers 38 to 44 were undergoing restoration at the time of the survey.
