Description
No. 15 on the south side of Side in Newcastle upon Tyne is an early 20th-century building that originally served as offices and is now a restaurant. It was constructed between 1906 and 1926. The ground floor is made of red granite, while the upper floors are built from Flemish bond brick with ashlar dressings. The building has four storeys and three bays.
On the left side, there is a raised stone surround framing a double door, with a blocked panel above it. The wide window features a slender mullion and transom, with a raised surround and an aproned sill. This same style of surround also frames the ground floor. The upper floors have sash windows, with the central window being tripartite.
The first and second floors have two-storey architraves enclosing keyed windows, and the upper windows have projecting stone sills. The central upper window is distinguished by a double key and a pedimented cornice. The top floor features a sill string for the windows, which have keyed flat brick arches.
