Description
Nos 36 and 38 Sandhill is a 17th-century house that has been converted into a restaurant, with an 18th-century front. The building features painted brick with painted ashlar dressings and has a Welsh slate roof. It stands four storeys high and has four bays. There is a wide yard entrance on the left and a shop from around 1900 on the right. The windows have wedge stone lintels and projecting stone sills on the second and third floors. Inside, the first floor showcases 17th-century panelling and a chimney piece with a carved overmantel, which includes paired Ionic pilasters dated 1658, along with the initials WC and CR. Delft tiles are positioned around the hearth. The rear stair features a ramped handrail and turned newels on the upper flights.
