Description
No. 35 is a house and shop located on the south side of Side in Newcastle upon Tyne, dating from the late 18th century. The building is constructed of English bond brick with ashlar dressings and features a Welsh slate roof. It stands four storeys high and has two bays.
The shop front, which has been renewed in an early 19th-century style, includes fluted pilasters flanking a six-panelled partly-glazed door with an overlight on the left, and a six-panelled door with an overlight on the right. The central window has glazing bars. The ground floor features a fascia and a modillioned cornice. The upper floors have renewed sash windows with glazing bars, and there are sill bands on the first and second floors, along with projecting stone sills on the third floor. A modillioned stone cornice runs beneath a low parapet, and there is no visible chimney. The building has been redeveloped behind the facade.
