Description
The posts and rails on Castle Stairs in Newcastle upon Tyne are early 19th-century features made of cast and wrought iron. There are a total of 11 fluted and tapering posts arranged in a 5:2:2:2:2 configuration. These posts support five handrails that are circular in section and have tapered ends that spiral downward.
