Description
The former fish market, now a warehouse, was built in 1880 by A.M. Fowler. It is constructed of brick with ashlar dressings and features a Welsh slate roof. The building is one high storey and consists of 3 x 7 bays. The west elevation has three bays defined by rusticated pilasters with entasis. There is a keyed arch and extended impost strings above the central open entrance, which is flanked by high keyed oculi. The building also has a high entablature and a deep cornice. The low-pitched hipped roof includes roof lights and a long, hipped ridge ventilator. Central arched entrances are flanked by arched windows on each side. All entrances feature elaborate wrought iron gates under grilles that display the Newcastle arms.
