Description

A row of five houses at 1-5 Leazes Crescent, built in 1829-30 by Thomas Oliver for Richard Grainger. The houses are constructed of stucco with a Welsh slate roof and brick chimneys. Each house is two storeys high and three bays wide, with a bowed projection at the left end. The right end has a similar bow that connects with No. 26 Terrace Place. The entrance to No. 5 is on the left return in the central bay of three bays. The houses feature six-panelled doors with overlights, some with glazing bars, set in plain reveals. The sashes have glazing bars to Nos. 1 and 4, with renewed glazing to the left bow. The ground floor of No. 5 has a canted bay. A decorative frieze, cornice, and blocking course run along the facade, with a central panel displaying the name "Leazes Crescent".
