Description
The Caretaker's House to the former Ouseburn Schools was built in 1893 by F.W. Rich. It is constructed of English garden wall bond brick with terracotta dressings and features a Welsh slate roof. The building is L-shaped and has two storeys with two bays, the left bay projecting and topped with a pedimented gable. A panelled door is located to the right of the gable, framed by an egg-and-dart terracotta surround. The left bay includes a ground-floor canted bay window and three sash windows set within aedicules on the first floor, while the right bay is blank. The pediment on the front and the right return is adorned with egg-and-dart moulding. The steeply-pitched roof is capped by a tall panelled central brick chimney. This building is included for its group value.
