Description
This drinking fountain and statue, located on the south side of Horatio Street in Newcastle upon Tyne, was created in 1914 and features a portrait bust signed by Alexis Rudier, dated 1912. The structure is made of sandstone, pink granite, and bronze. It has a wide stone base with granite plinth and basins, and a sandstone pedestal that includes a long inscription commemorating W.L. Blenkinsopp Coulson for his efforts to assist the weak and defenseless among both mankind and the animal world. The bust is larger than life and is adorned with drapery that wraps around the pedestal.
