Description

The piers and lamp holders north of the Gateshead Housing Offices were built in 1902 for the Felling Urban District Council. There are five piers made of rock-faced sandstone, each featuring square shapes with plinths and domed corniced tops. The lamp holders are tall, art nouveau wrought iron structures with spreading heads. The lamp holders on the piers at the central entrance display the monogram F.U.D.C.
