Description

The gate piers and walls located north-west of the Durham County Council Offices date from the mid-18th century and are constructed from sandstone ashlar. The structure features two tall square piers that are adorned with wide pilasters and side consoles, topped with cornices and large pineapple finials. Flanking these piers are serpentine walls that have chamfered coping and end in lower square piers, which also have cornices and ball finials.
