Description
The New Imperial Bingo Club is a building that was originally constructed in 1927 as a dance hall and later converted in 1930 for the Imperial Hall Company (Felling) Ltd., with J. H. Smith as managing director. It is built from brick with stone dressings and has a plain tiled roof. The structure is two storeys high and features three groups of three aproned windows, all set under flat brick arches. The central windows in the outer groups have keystones, while all windows in the central group are similarly styled. The building has brick quoins and pilasters between the window groups, which are adorned with low relief stylised eagles in stone and bronze straps that support bronze torches.
On the ground floor, there are shops on the left and right sides, showcasing art deco glass and doors. The central bay features two double doors with some etched glass, flanked by chromium pilasters and sheltered by a canopy. The hipped roof has an eaves cornice that extends from the pilasters along the returns, culminating in a central low-sloping coped stone parapet.
Inside, the entrance foyer is oak-panelled and includes staircases with curved bands leading to ceiling lights. The main hall features pilasters with stylised capitals, decorative plaster bands on the ceiling, original seating in the balcony, and original ceiling lights.
