Description

These are a pair of late 18th-century cottages located on Church Road in Eglescliffe. They are constructed of local pinkish brick, although No. 4 has been roughcast and has modern windows and a front door. No. 4 retains a pantiled roof, whereas No. 6 has a more modern tiled roof. Each cottage is two storeys high and originally had a single window facing the road. No. 6 now has modern sash windows with glazing bars set within wooden architraves, and one additional window has been inserted. The windows and the modern front door are all set within flat, gauged brick arches.
