Description

The Hall, located on The Green in Egglescliffe, is a Grade II* listed building. It features an entrance front divided into three sections. The central part is a mid to late 18th century, three-storey facade made of pinkish brick, with a stone cornice adorned with modillions and a tall stone-coped parapet. The roof is pantiled and includes tall end chimneys. The sash windows, which have glazing bars (some of which have been replaced), are accented with stuccoed lintels and stone cills.

To the left, there is a later 18th century wing that has a more domestic appearance, constructed with similar materials and featuring some fixed lights with small opening sections. On the right is an early to mid 19th century wing, which is imposing in size but only two storeys tall. This section is made of larger pinkish brick and has similar architectural features, including a prostyle Tuscan porch that has been glazed.

At the rear of the central part, there is a Venetian staircase window on the first floor and a tripartite window above it. The entrance is located on the projecting ground floor. Inside, there are two elegant staircases, each with two turned balusters per tread; the later staircase is designed on a grander scale but is derived from the earlier one. The rooms in both sections feature elaborate plaster cornices, and the drawing room of the later wing boasts an imported late 18th century marble inlaid chimney piece.
