Description

Nos. 1 to 3 Barwick Lane is a terrace of three cottages built in the mid 18th century. Constructed of brick with clay pantile roofs, which have been renewed at No. 1, the cottages feature stone ridge copings and two brick ridge stacks, one of which is shared with No. 4. The buildings are single storey. No. 1 has a boarded door on the left and a mid 20th century casement window in the original opening on the right. Nos. 2 and 3 each have one horizontal sash window with glazing bars on either side of a central boarded door. At the rear, there are late 18th century and early 19th century pent extensions that create catslides with the main roofs. No. 2 includes a moulded bressumer and firehood over a mid to late 19th century kitchen range with a flat painted surround. No. 3 features a similar bressumer and firehood over a kitchen range dating to around 1800, along with a similar surround. Both cottages retain their boarded internal doors.
