Description
Nos. 1-3 High Street is a row of three cottages built in the mid-18th century, with some alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The cottages are constructed from coursed limestone rubble and topped with a 20th-century tile roof, featuring five renewed ridge and end stacks. The layout consists of a two-unit plan for Nos. 1 and 2, while No. 3 has a one-unit plan. The buildings are two storeys high and together they form a four-window range.
No. 1 has an entrance on the right with a plank door set in a wood frame and wood lintel. To the left, there are two three-light wood casements with glazing bars and wood lintels. The first floor features a two-light wood casement with a wood lintel.
No. 2 has an off-centre entrance to the left with a six-panelled door, a wood frame, and a 20th-century trellis porch. This entrance is flanked by a bow window and a three-light wood casement. The first floor has two two-light wood casements with wood lintels, wrought-iron casement fasteners, wrought-iron springs, lead cames, and crown glass.
No. 3 features an entrance with a four-panelled door, a wood frame, and a wood lintel. To the left, there is a three-light wood casement with lead cames, crown glass, and a wood lintel. The first floor has a single 20th-century casement. The interiors of the cottages were not inspected. Nos. 4 and 5, which are consecutive, are not of special architectural interest.
