Description

Hagg Farmhouse and the adjoining byre/hayloft are mid to late 18th-century structures located off the north side of Station Lane in Skelton. The buildings are constructed of dressed sandstone and feature a mid-20th century concrete tiled roof with stone ridge, gable copings, and block kneelers. The farmhouse and cottage have stacks on the ridge and at the right ends, with the latter two being rebuilt in brick.

The farmhouse is two storeys high and has two windows. It is accessed through a six-panelled door located on the left side of the adjoining farm cottage. The ground floor features early to mid-19th century 16-pane sash windows, while the first floor has horizontal sashes with glazing bars. A keyed lintel separates the floors in the left-hand bay. The two-storey farm cottage has one altered window on each floor, with the ground floor window set in an enlarged opening. There is a single-storey porch extension to the right, which has a blocked doorway.

The byre with a hayloft above is attached to the left side of the farmhouse and includes a stable door and a loft door accessed by a renewed external timber and metal stair. The rear of the farmhouse displays original scattered fenestration with small square openings, and there is a single-storey pent extension at the back of the cottage.
