Description

Brough House Farmhouse is an early 18th-century farmhouse that was extended in the mid to late 18th century and raised around 1800. It is constructed of brick in English garden wall bond, with Flemish bond used for the extension, and features a Welsh slate roof. The building is two storeys high.

The garden front, facing south, has a tall blocked opening on both the ground and first floors, with a mid-20th-century casement window inserted to the left on the first floor. The left extension has two windows, and there is a central doorway accessed by three stone steps, which is topped by a mid-20th-century timber porch and door. The early 19th-century windows are 16-pane sashes with keystones. To the right, there is a single-storey mid-19th-century canted bay that also has 16-pane sashes and a dentil cornice. The roof features stone ridge and gable copings with moulded kneelers, and the end stacks have stone cornices. A boarded garret light is located in the left return, and horizontal sashes with glazing bars are present at the rear.

Inside, the farmhouse retains panelled window shutters and an 18th-century dado rail with Vitruvian Scroll moulding in the first-floor bedroom of the extension. The adjoining farm building on the south side is not of interest.
