Description
The Manor House is an early 18th-century farmhouse that has been extended and raised. It was originally listed as Whitcombe Farmhouse. The building is constructed of coursed and squared rubble walls with brick dressings and brick quoins. The roof is tiled with stone slates at the eaves, hipped at both ends. Brick stacks are located at the left hip apex, on the ridge left of centre, and on the ridge towards the right hip apex. The front elevation has five windows on the ground floor, with irregular sash windows featuring glazing bars and wooden sills. The windows are set within cambered brick arches and have concrete lintels. Two French windows, with glazing bars, are located to the right of the centre. A blocked doorway is at the centre, marking the original front door position, although the current front door is within a 20th-century porch extension at the south end, built of rubble stone with brick quoins. The door itself is a 6-panelled door, also 20th century, with a bracketed stone canopy above. A single-storey outshut runs along the rear of the house, covered by a tile roof. The back door is a 6-panelled, 20th-century replacement. Inside, there are mid-chamfered ceiling beams. An outbuilding, dating from the 19th century, is attached to the north end, built with rubble and brick walls and a clay tile roof, including a brick stack. Features on this outbuilding include a French window to the garden and a two-light casement window facing the yard, both 20th century.
