II

20 beach huts. c1920. Brick, rendered and painted with slate roofs. EXTERIOR: two rows of beach huts with central service building topped with parapet and curved top gable. Central circular window flanked by plank doors with glazed panes now boarded and flanking windows, also boarded. The roof-end gables have plain bargeboards and half timbered gables. Both rows of huts are linked by side walls, the lower row has a front terrace with painted wall and symmetrically sited 2-flight staircases. INTERIOR: not inspected. This group of beach huts are exceptional, not only are they very substantially constructed, they have survived totally unaltered and they are unusually elaborate examples of Inter-War architectural design.
