Description
The beach huts, built around 1920, are located on the lower promenade in Saltburn. This group consists of 20 beach huts made of brick, which are rendered and painted, topped with slate roofs. The huts are arranged in two rows with a central service building that features a parapet and a curved top gable. The central circular window is flanked by plank doors with glazed panes that are now boarded, along with boarded flanking windows. The gables at the ends of the roofs have plain bargeboards and half-timbered detailing. The lower row of huts includes a front terrace with a painted wall and two symmetrically placed staircases with two flights each. The beach huts are notable for their substantial construction and have remained completely unaltered, representing an unusually elaborate example of Inter-War architectural design. The interior has not been inspected.
