Description

The Evans Monument, located 210 meters west of the Church of St. Helen in Eston, is a memorial dedicated to Jane and David Evans, who passed away in 1902 and 1905. This monument features a marble Ionic column set on a plain square pedestal and base, which is flanked by benches that have curved ends. The column is adorned with husk garlands beneath the capital and includes a relief carving of a mourning female figure on its shaft. The benches have moulded coping on the back-rests, which end in draped scrolled consoles supported by square shafts. An epitaph is inscribed on the pedestal and base.
