Description
The Stapylton Arms Public House is an early 19th-century farmhouse, with a slightly later adjoining farm cottage on the left. It was converted into an inn around 1850. The building is constructed of dressed sandstone with a painted plinth and features a Welsh slate roof with a stone ridge, gable copings, and kneelers. It stands two storeys high, with three windows on the farmhouse side and two on the farm cottage side. There is an enlarged doorway on the left, which dates from the late 20th century, and it is covered by a late 20th-century timber and metal hood. The central part of the building has a canted bay window, and the windows are renewed sashes with glazing bars set under keyed lintels. There are three transverse ridge and end stacks, and a garret light is located in the right return. Late 20th-century extensions at the left and rear are not considered of special interest.
