Description

A terrace of three cottages located on the south side of High Street in Eston, built around 1800. The cottages are constructed of dressed sandstone, with quoins visible at the corner of number 78, and coursed rubble at the rear. The roofs are covered with clay pantiles, renewed at number 74, and feature a stone ridge, gable copings, block kneelers, and a rebuilt brick end stack at number 78.

The cottages are two storeys high with three windows. Numbers 76 and 78 share a paired doorway, while number 74 has a doorway on its right side. The doors are early to mid 20th century, consisting of panelled and part-glazed sections with overlights. Windows are mid 20th century casements in original openings at numbers 74 and 78. Number 76 retains horizontal sash windows with glazing bars. Painted stone sills are present on all windows. A stack is located between numbers 74 and 76. Single-storey rear extensions are not considered to be of special architectural interest. The adjoining property at number 72 has been significantly altered and is also not included in the listing. The buildings are recognised as having group value.
