Description
No. 45 High Street is a cottage that may have originally been a public house, dating from the early to mid-18th century. It is constructed of coursed sandstone rubble and features a clay pantile roof with stone ridge copings and rebuilt brick end stacks. The building is single storey and has two windows. Access is through a doorway located in the left return. The windows are horizontal sashes with glazing bars and iron shutter hinges, although the window on the right is now boarded up. There is also a mid-19th century sash window with shutter hinges to the right of the boarded door in the left return, along with a sashed garret light featuring glazing bars. An adjoining timber and iron shed at the rear is not considered of special interest. The property has been occupied by the Snowdon family since the 15th or 16th century and was noted to be in a dilapidated condition at the time of resurvey.
