Description

A pair of cottages dated to the late 18th century, located on the west side of Northgate, Guisborough. They are built of dressed sandstone with a stone plinth. Number 51 has a clay pantile roof, while number 53 has mid-20th century concrete tiles; both have stone ridge and gable copings, and two stacks. The cottages are two storeys high, with three bays each, arranged as a paired central design. Each cottage has paired doorways with simple moulded stone architraves and keystones, inscribed “T.S.” All windows have been altered from original Yorkshire sash windows, and the ground floor window of number 53 is slightly enlarged. The cottages have painted stone sills and keystones, and a moulded stone eaves cornice.
