Description

Callaly Mains is a house that was formerly a farmhouse, estate office, and estate laundry. It dates from the early 19th century, with additions made around 1890, likely by Stephenson of Berwick. The earlier section is built of dressed stone, while the later parts are made of ashlar. The roof is covered with Welsh slate.

The building is two stories high and has three bays. The right side features a central 20th-century glazed door with an overlight and four-pane sliding sash windows. The roof is gabled, with kneelers and corniced end stacks.

To the left, there is a single-storey section with four bays. This section has 12-pane sash windows that feature pulvinated friezes and broken pediments topped with ball finials. The left bay is two stories and cross-gabled, with a similar window on the first floor that has a decorative apron with scrolls and the initials AHB, representing Alan Browne. The roof is also gabled.
