Description
The former tannery building, now used as a warehouse, dates from the early 19th century and has undergone later alterations. It is built from coursed rubble and brick, featuring ashlar dressings and a slate roof with a single coped gable on the south side. The structure is three storeys high, two bays wide, and six bays long, with a two-storey, three-bay wing to the south that has an altered 20th-century single pitch roof. The building is constructed over Cockshaw Burn and is supported by two round arches.
The north front has two bays with two shuttered openings, and above them are two half shuttered windows and two similar windows. The street front to the west features a pair of plank loading doors and four small glazing bar sashes. Above these, there are six glazing bar windows, with the second and fourth being half shuttered, flanked by single glazing bar windows, all of which have wooden lintels. To the right is a much-altered lower wing.
